Overview

Lempuyang Bali is a region that is famous for its ancient Hindu temple complex, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, also known as the Gates of Heaven. The temple is located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang and offers a stunning view of Mount Agung, the highest volcano in Bali. The temple is one of the six sanctuaries of the world in Balinese Hinduism and is considered one of the most sacred and revered places of worship on the island. The temple consists of seven temples along a hiking path that leads to the summit. The most iconic and popular temple is the first one, where the Gate of Heaven is located. This is a split gateway that frames the view of Mount Agung and creates a mirror-like illusion with a pool of water. Many tourists visit this temple to take photos and admire the scenery. However, the temple is also a place of spiritual significance and visitors are expected to respect the dress code and the customs. The temple is open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, but the best time to visit is early in the morning to avoid the crowds and catch the sunrise.
